By starting or joining a fundraising group in your area you can help fund vital Bobath therapy and raise awareness of the work we do within your local community. So why not get together with your friends and family today and start making a difference.

How to get started…..

Simply think of a name for your fundraising group and let the Bobath fundraising team know. You will then receive a welcome pack full of fundraising ideas, from skydiving to coffee mornings, family fun runs to quiz nights - we have got something for everyone! Keep us up to date with the events you plan and we will provide advice and support, including posters, tickets, collection boxes, press releases and other fundraising materials. We will keep you informed of the amount your group has raised with regular statements.

We value your help……

As a group you will also be invited to our annual summer barbeque and Christmas ‘Mince Pies’ open day, giving you the opportunity to meet other volunteer fundraisers. You will also be joining a valued community united in giving support to the Centre, our children and their families. You will be making a real difference and having fun with your family and friends. Friends of Bobath Wales

Friends of Bobath Wales have been dedicated supporters of Bobath since 2001 and over the years this fantastic group have made a real and significant difference to Bobath and the children who need us. Derek Redwood and Mike Salter are the driving force behind the group and their dedication and enthusiasm for Bobath is contagious, ensuring that the group goes from strength to strength

Friends of Bobath Wales certainly put the fun into fundraising and they organise a wide variety of events every year. These include a celebrity golf day, a corporate kidnap, treks, musical nights as well as a football match against Cardiff City veterans at Ninian Park. The group’s continued and substantial support is much appreciated by everyone at the Centre and we really cannot thank them enough.

 

The South Wales Classic Car Club

The South Wales Classic Car Club has supported Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales since its inception and has raised a fantastic £83,000 with money still to come from the 2009 Classic Car Show. The first Classic Car Show took place in 1986 and from there has grown into one of the premier events not only in the locality but in the country with many exhibitors coming from all over Wales, England and Ireland. We are very grateful to the committee and club members of The SWCCC for its unswerving commitment and fundraising efforts that make such a difference to all the children at the Bobath Centre.

We can’t thank them enough! The annual Classic Car Show takes place every year in May in the grounds of Pencoed College, Bridgend.

 

Margaret Lauder and Nick Quinn

Margaret and Nick began fundraising for Bobath in June 2007 after reading an article in the South Wales Echo about Bobath and how the Centre was struggling to meet the growing demand for Bobath therapy. Since then they have organised a variety of fundraising events, including two 6km Taff Trail Sponsored Walks and they also hold a monthly car boot sale, where they collect things to sell from their family and friends. Look out for Margaret and Nick at Bessemer Road Car Boot Sale in Cardiff. Margaret is also fantastic at bucket collections and when she is on duty nobody escapes a Bobath sticker!

 

Zara and Friends

Zara and Friends was set up by Zara’s parents Matt and Vicky to help raise funds for charities that help children who have cerebral palsy. Zara has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, one of the most severe forms and she attends the Centre for vital Bobath therapy. On Sunday 6th July 2008, Zara and Friends organised ‘Run for their Lives’, a 5km fun run which started from Zara’s home and over 100 people took part in this event. Zara and Friends have now challenged the male members of their family and friends to ‘grow a tache, to raise some cash’. Matt and Vicky said “The Bobath Centre offers specialist therapy to kids like Zara providing them with much needed relief from the difficulties caused by cerebral palsy. Zara improves in leaps and bounds with each therapy block, and the kids and the Centre need your help as well as ours.” If you would like to learn more about Zara and Friends and their forthcoming events please visit their website at www.zaraandfriends.com.

 

The 151 Club

Moira Hillman and Marion Jones set up their fundraising group, The 151 Club, to help raise funds for Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales and CLIC Sargent. They had very personal reasons for choosing both of us, as Moira’s granddaughter is currently in remission from Leukaemia and Marion’s granddaughter has cerebral palsy and attends the Bobath Centre. Moira explained “We are anxious to ensure that other children receive the same wonderful treatment as Laurie and Megan.”

The group, based in Blackwood, have 10 willing volunteers and they decided to call themselves The 151 Club, as most of their members catch the 151 bus to their group meetings. Ever since they became Friends of Bobath it’s been ‘all aboard and full steam ahead’ and they have organised many events, including coffee mornings, a fashion show, a Christmas market, a sponsored walk and a fundraising bus trip to the Lakes and Dales. The Cwm Crafters

The Cwm Crafters are a group of very talented ladies from Aberdare, who enjoy crocheting, sewing and knitting items to sell for charity. Over the years they have raised thousands of pounds for charity and we are delighted that they have now chosen Bobath as the beneficiary of all their hard work. Throughout the year the Cwm Crafters are selling their hand-made crafts and Bobath merchandise at the Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr. Not only are they helping to raise essential funds but they are also creating awareness of our important work.
